This is a “notepad” page for jobs that we see during the bird-nesting season (March to August), that we need to remember to do in September onwards.

Bilton To Bear 600 metres (4 weeks September)

Create glades and shafts of sunlight around friendship triangle benches x2

Stain all benches in section

Reduce overhang

Encourage sunlight onto south-facing bank

Stack brash as dead-hedge on edge of greenway

Bear To Underpass 600 metres (5 weeks December)

Stain benches in section

Jamie week? Clear trees along path edge from Underpass, northwards. North of Berrybanks – cut trees leaning into path on north-west side

Clear and dead-hedge/stack Jamie cuttings

Clear overhang to create flat-bottomed V profile

Clear branches overhanging benches

Clear parts of south-facing bank

Clear out wildflower mini meadow north of Underpass

Push scrub back one or two metres

Stack brash as dead-hedge on edge of greenway

Underpass To Bridleway 900 metres (5 weeks October)

Thin out trees to 2.5 metres+ and retain cuttings

Push scrub back one or two metres to create wildflower margin. Use tree trunk cuttings to define path/wildflower margin edge so we know how deep to strim in the summer.

Stain benches in section

Reset (postfix) Mick’s sunset bench and sandpaper offensive graffiti on top

Clear overhang to create flat-bottomed V (use ladder to cut high branches)

Clear out Charlie’s wildflower clearing and widen entrance

Clear ivy

Open up glade around bench quartet

Create space for everything to breathe and sunlight to get in

Stack brash as dead-hedge on edge of greenway

Bridleway To Potford Dam 700 metres (4 weeks November)

Stain benches in section

Rip out scrub on north-west side of path around friendship triangle to create glade between bridleway and bird-feeder clearing

Remove overhang on south-east side and create flat-bottomed V profile

Push scrub back to create two metre wildflower margin and use thinned tree trunks to define path (summer strim limit) edge

Clear view to brook

Top the scrub north of Potford Dam bench to open up view and clear around mature trees to make feature

Stack brash as dead-hedge on edge of greenway

Clear out the two wildflower glades

Teepee bug hotel x2 with signs for alternative path

Potford Dam to Station Ramp 700 metres (4 weeks January)

Push scrub back and top it to make good the view

Hedge height approx 1.5 metres

Potford Dam bridge – create wildflower glade

Make habitat piles with cuttings

Thin/hedge lay smaller trees in scrub to create a proper hedge

Define path edge/wildflower margin/summer strim limit

Create flat-bottomed V profile

Stack brash as dead-hedge on edge of greenway

Whole Greenway 3,500 metres (4 weeks February)

Mop up any odd jobs

Check birdboxes

Tidy brash piles away from path and dig up any stumps on the used path that may be a trip hazard

Agitate wildflower glades with rake to encourage wildflower growth and dig out bramble roots

Discuss with Railway Paths Ltd possibility of going further past Dunchurch station
